The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), through the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channel, has bid for an amount of € 7.5 million improvement works to supply Beniel (Murcia) and Orihuela ( Alicante).
The tendered work includes the construction of a new drive and installing a new supply for the town of Beniel and a tank to solve the problems facing this town currently caters from different points in high and has its limited water in space and time.
Specifically, the work will improve supply to municipalities Bigastro and southwestern Orihuela (Hurchillo, Arneva and Homeless), in the province of Alicante and of Beniel (Murcia).
The new buffer reservoir, which will serve southwest of Orihuela and the entire municipality of Beniel, reinforced concrete and will have 5,100 m3.
Will be located on the site of "The Cairn" in the Sierra del Cristo, south of Beniel, within the municipality of Orihuela.
In addition, more than 14 kilometers of new pipelines distributed between the branch Bigastro more than 11.5 km in length and Beniel with about 3 km will be built.
The work was completed with the implementation of the branches and connections to municipal networks.
Finally, we carry out the actions necessary environmental adaptation, and for the replacement of services and facilities affected by the works.
Thus, both lines of urban services (especially crossing Arneva) and the United Vereda in Beniel such as irrigation restored.
The works, which will have a lead time of 12 months are 80% financed by ERDF.
The Commonwealth of Taibilla Channel provides drinking water to 79 municipalities in the regions of Albacete (2) Alicante (34) and Murcia (43) with a total population of 2,400,000 inhabitants supplied and summer season more than 3,000,000 people.
