The Avanza Plan of the Government of Spain has pulled together since 2006, 187 million euros
The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, along with the mayor of Beniel, Roberto García Navarro, today presented Benielnet (Digital Wireless Network) project is framed within the Electronic Digital Cities Plan Avanza.
González Tovar said that the Government of Spain takes years betting on the implementation of information technology and communication (ICT) both in the life of citizens in the daily business of the Region of Murcia by Avanza Plan. "
In this sense Beniel stressed that "a municipality pointer inside the Digital Cities project, and an example for the rest of populations."
The project Beniel, digital crossroads has a funding of 1.25 million euros, of which 42% comes from central government and the rest is provided from the City Council and the regional administration.
The Government delegate pointed out that the objectives of the Plan Avanza is the spread between citizens of various public services accessible through the Internet using broadband, and the promotion and dissemination of the various support programs available.
Electronic Digital Cities Programme
Electronic Digital Cities program, set in the action area of the Digital Utility Avanza Plan, aims to guarantee the right of citizens to conduct all negotiations with the Local Government electronically.
In the Region of Murcia, the program has a funding of 2.11 million euros.
Of this, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade will provide 1.05 million euros and the autonomous government and / or local authorities the same amount.
Projects and activities must be included in one or more of the following lines: services and eGovernment applications, digital services directed to citizens and businesses of the local environment, training and dissemination.
The Avanza Plan of the Government of Spain has mobilized more than 187 million euros
The Avanza Plan of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade has mobilized a total of 187.4 million euros in Murcia since 2006 until this year, development programs of the Information Society, which has enabled the execution of 340 projects.
Other figures
Infrastructure in the area, 110 villages and 32,115 citizens of the Murcia Region have benefited from the Plan Mobile Extension, which has received an investment of 9.65 billion euros in this community to extend coverage mobile networks in rural areas, areas of strategic interest and communication channels with high capacity.
In 2003 there were 325,816 Internet users, 32% of the population.
Currently, 546,076 people are online, 51% of the population.
In 2003 22% of households have Internet access, while currently there are over 209,000 homes connected, 47% of the total.
Also, the number of businesses with broadband has increased 39 percentage points since 2003.
In fact, in 2003 48% of companies available via broadband connection, while today the percentage rises to 87%.
Eleven million E Plan to improve information technology
The Government delegate reported that the municipalities in the region are carried out under the State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability 104 projects aimed at improving the information technology and communication, entailing a total investment of nearly 11 million euros and will result in the creation of over 500 jobs.
González Tovar said that these projects are a cornerstone to revive the economy and increase competitiveness while generating employment and stable quality.
These projects aim to boost development of information society, ensuring the right of citizens to interact electronically with government, establish mechanisms for the provision of appropriate services in line with existing demand, ensuring existence of appropriate channels for citizens and businesses to make use of the government services and improve administration done through the municipalities.
