The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed in Beniel the operation 'CICLOS', an investigation aimed at clarifying the subtraction of large numbers of community garage and storage bicycles, which has culminated in the identification, location and arrest of the two suspects Perpetrators of the criminal activity and the recovery and return to their owners of much of the stolen bikes.
The operation began after detecting the subtraction of a considerable number of mountain bikes, most of them high-end, in garages and community stores in Beniel, events that had generated some social alarm among the locals.
The first steps of the investigation were carried out in the places where the bicycles were removed, carrying out technical-ocular inspections and various procedures, all with the aim of obtaining all possible information about the modus operandi and the identity of the authors.
At the same time, the civil guards also carried out a series of inspections in establishments for the sale of second-hand objects and other actions aimed at locating the objects stolen.
The purpose of this series of criminal acts was common: high-end mountain bikes.
And those now arrested allegedly appropriated in principle the least security measures, such as locks and other similar items, but did not hesitate to use excessive force to access community garages and storage rooms.
As a result of the investigations carried out, the agents were able to identify two young men who might find themselves behind the authorship of the bicycle abductions, both with a large criminal record, having been detained one of them on a dozen occasions, even having entered In prison.
Once obtained all the necessary indications, the Civil Guard established a search device that has culminated, during the last days, with its location, arrest and subsequent judicial disposition as alleged perpetrators of robbery with force and theft.
During the investigation, the agents were able to verify that the stolen bicycles were marketed both in the sale of second hand goods and in the illicit market, a task carried out by only one of them, although they later shared the profits.
The development of the operation has made it possible to recover much of the stolen objects that, after being brought to justice, have been returned to their rightful owners.
The arrested Spanish, neighbors of Beniel and with a wide criminal history, the recovered effects and the diligences instructed have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Murcia.
