The figures of the belenista artisan Griñán are already exposed again to the public on the thirtieth anniversary of their acquisition by the City of Beniel.
The inauguration of the Municipal Bethlehem took place yesterday at the Pepe Rubio Exhibition Hall (Cultural Center) with the assistance of a hundred neighbors.
The act has been chaired by the mayor of the municipality, M. Carmen Morales.
The mayor has highlighted "the illusion, work and effort that the volunteers have made month after month so that we can all enjoy our artistic and historical heritage for another year."
The scenes of the nativity scene have been recreated by a group of volunteers, about twenty people, who for months began to work on this project.
Morales stressed that "after the recovery of the nativity scene undertaken by the Municipal Archives we have continued to strengthen our traditions on the thirtieth anniversary of its acquisition."
These artisan pieces of the Griñán Brothers were acquired by the Consistory in 1989, but were exhibited only a few years.
From the Department of Citizen Participation, who has organized this group, they have been given a gift and a diploma during the opening ceremony.
In the nativity scene, elements of the Murcian garden stand out, as well as monuments of the town.
In order to develop the artisan techniques necessary for the creation of the sets, the Department of Modernization and Municipal Archives has promoted a workshop for the initiation of belenism, given by the President of the Association of Friends of Belén Murciano, Mr. Manuel Fuentes.
Visits have also been made to prestigious nativity scenes and the Bethlehem Museum House in Tocinos Bridge. To finish the inauguration, the priest-parish priest of Beniel, Dº José María Gómez, has blessed the Municipal Bethlehem and the Beniel Gang has entertained with his singing and traditional dance the first hours of this space.
The Municipal Bethlehem will gather hundreds of schoolchildren who have already scheduled visits in the coming days.
Also the Day Stays Center has planned a visit of its users to the nativity scene, as well as the participants in the social project "The Club".
For these tours, explanatory audiovisual material of the project and assembly will be available, as well as a short animated short based on the recent history of Beniel.
