The general director of Books, Archives and Libraries, Francisco Giménez, and Councilwoman Personal Finance and Internal Affairs of the City of Beniel, María Pilar Ruiz, have signed an agreement to deposit the town's historical documentary on the General File the Region of Murcia.
Through this agreement the City of Beniel maintains ownership of the documents deposited in the Archives of the Region, and maintains, at all times, the full availability on your file.
For its part, the file will retain this documentary heritage in their facilities with optimal environmental conditions for the better maintenance of its contents and also has well prepared infrastructure for searching historical documents.
Among the documents of the municipal archives are remarkable Beniel those from the Civil Registry and rich legal background, which includes numerous misdemeanors and civil judgments, acts of conciliation proceedings of the Parole Board.
Also interesting is the long tenure of an institution as the granary for storing grain in times of abundance for further lending to farmers in times of shortage.
In the early twentieth century were transformed into agricultural credit banks and retains Beniel documents of these institutions until the sixties of last century.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the General Directorate of Books, Archives and Libraries, aims to offer this model to other municipalities, so that those who do not have staff resources to maintain or repositories in fair condition, to deposit their historical documents in the Archives without losing ownership over them.
