Citizens Beniel launches a battery of measures to promote the safe use of the internet by the minors (17/02/2017)

Beniel will launch throughout this year a series of measures aimed at promoting the safe use of the internet, especially by minors.

The municipal group of Citizens was able to see unanimously approved a motion in plenary held on Thursday urging the Corporation to launch the program 'Educate with ICT in the Family', "which includes the publication of guides and the opening of services Of consulting to help parents and children in the responsible and safe use of new technologies, "said the spokesperson of the Orange Municipal Group, Silvia Muoz.

The Cs motion will also serve to conduct workshops on the safe use of the internet by professionals of the State Security Forces and Bodies, as well as an information campaign through the local media.

"On the 7th International Secure Internet Day was celebrated, at the request of the European Commission, and we consider it necessary to act and take the initiative on a very sensitive issue, which in our municipality, unfortunately, we have had several examples," Muoz says.

The spokeswoman added that "the internet is a free, global, open and participatory environment, but not out of the need to protect fundamental freedoms and user safety.

As a municipality, it is our responsibility to promote responsible use of the network, especially by the most vulnerable groups, such as minors. "

The spokeswoman argued in Plenary that almost a third of the children would have suffered some kind of online harassment according to the Net Children Go Mobile report of the University of the Basque Country.

The motion approved with the support of the Government team will entail the appropriation of the budgetary items necessary to carry out the planned activities on the safe use of the network.
