They introduce a wasp in the parks of the municipality to control the insect pill bug without using chemical compounds (21/06/2019)

The service company Sermubeniel is using wasps of the species Anagyrus pseudococci for the biological control of cochineal pests that especially affect the ficus and ornamental plants of the gardens of the municipality.

To do this, some boats with insects have been placed on the branches of the trees that control the attack of the larvae of the cochineals.

This prevents their proliferation and the subsequent damage they cause to the leaves and branches.

The objective of this measure is simply to end the use of insecticides and pesticides, eliminating the chemical compounds to manage pests in a 100 percent sustainable way.

Juan Jaime Ferrer, manager of Sermubeniel, points out that "using wasps to control cochineal is a totally effective method, but the most important thing is that it is natural, without harming plants or other living beings in the environment."
