Beniel will clean its streets with water from rejection of the municipal pool This action is framed in the campaign against drought that Sermubeniel and the City of Beniel have launched with activities to raise awareness of the residents of the town (16/05/2018)

Beniel is one of the municipalities that has joined the campaign against drought designed by Hidrogea, which was presented a few weeks ago at the regional level by the drinking water management company.

One of the actions to be implemented to improve efficiency is the new use of reject water from Beniel municipal pool for street cleaning, washing and irrigation of sports courts.

With the reuse of this flow, an approximate saving of 760,000 liters of drinking water per year is estimated.

Today, Sermubeniel and Beniel City Council celebrated the launch of this campaign with an Aqualogía workshop at the Río Segura School in the town, attended by Mayor Mari Carmen Morales, responsible for Sermubeniel and numerous students and professors .

Technicians of the municipal company have explained to the attendees, the water cycle and the responsible use of the resource, have also distributed the bottles protagonists of the campaign "The value of water", whose messages for awareness of the drought will be present in the houses of the neighbors that are made with a copy of this bottle and thus collaborate in the fight against the drought.

After the talk in the school, part of the team of the company and the City Council have moved to the sports facilities to see the loading of water that will be used for street cleaning and cleaning of collectors.

Reuse of resources

In order to optimize the water resources available in the municipality, the City of Beniel and the company Sermubeniel, concessionaire of the municipal services, have carried out the necessary actions to enable a loading dock that will allow to take advantage of the excess water of the municipal swimming pools, and reuse it later for both the irrigation of the sports courts, the cleaning and cleaning of the streets through the sweepers and cleaning trucks that the municipality has.

Several prefabricated tanks have been enabled that allow the storage of a total of 13,000 liters of water from the surplus of the pools.

Once this water is collected, it is not suitable for human consumption, it is transported and pumped to the load point enabled in the façade so that the different municipal services can make use of it.
